Excellent physical and mentally condition are required for this Expedition. Basic recommendation for the training with National mountaineering climbing institute or with professional mountain guide.

Mt. Shishapangma is the 14th highest mountain which lies in its autonomous region, known by the Tibetans as “the big grassy field”, it is an extremely beautiful and provides awe inspiring vistas along the Himalayan range. Only very few people in the world have an idea about the Shishapangma before Chinese opened Tibet to the western summiteers in 1978 A.D. The Tibetans regard it as the holy mountain. It is the youngest among fourteen mountains above 8000m that lies in high Himalayan ranges of Tibet and Nepal. Mt. Shishapangma 8013 meter was first climbed by H. Ching and Nine Climbers in 1664.

Its Sanskrit name is “Gosainthan”. Reinhold Messner called it “an exquisite apparition”. Indeed, it is emerging out of the earth-brown Tibetan plateau a solitary snow goddess rearing its not-so-ugly head out to be admired. As per the expedition program our expedition team will fly from Kathmandu to Lhasa and we will have sightseeing around. 3 days drive takes us to Shishapangma Base camp.

Our Shisapangma expedition overland route drive from Tibet Border Zhangmu and return same route from Zhangmu Border (Tatopani) to Kathmandu.

The expedition will start in Kathmandu, Nepal. We will meet at our Nepal office to get our paperwork together, organize our gear, and enjoy the local customs & culture of Kathmandu before drive to Zhangmu Border with our Nepali staff to Nyalam and move to Shishapangma Base camp. We will set camp in the BC for 2 days to acclimatize and check expedition equipments once more. After, we will walk for long day to reach Shishapangma advance base camp. It is situated at altitude of (5400 m).

Thamserku Expedition has organised about 6/7 expeditions to Shisapangma (8012m) every Year since 1997.
